JUNIOR COUNSEL

GARETH JONES

Year of Call: 2011

Gareth called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2002 and subsequently became a tenant at Lincoln House Chambers in Manchester. Over the course of approaching 10 years, he developed a successful and busy practice encompassing all areas of criminal law.
He has been instructed for both the Prosecution and Defence in jury trials involving serious violence, sexual offences (often involving children), controlled drugs, offensive weapons (including prohibited firearms), dishonesty (including fraudulent trading), offences against public justice and road traffic offences resulting in fatality. He has frequently acted alone in the Court of Appeal (Royal Courts of Justice, London). He also accepts instructions specifically in relation to confiscation proceedings following conviction.
As well as having an in depth experience of criminal trials and appellate work, Gareth has experience of dealing with individuals whose cases fall to be considered by the parole board. He has been instructed to represent prisoners at parole applications and at review hearings following an administrative recall to custody. He also accepts instructions in judicial review cases arising from any such hearings.
During his period of training in Scots Law, Gareth was also exposed to a wide variety of personal injury and employment law work. He is open to accepting instructions in both of those areas.
