David Young QC Returns to Private Practice

Following seven years as an Advocate Depute, David Young QC has returned to practice as a defence Advocate and become a member of Black Chambers.

Working initially as a Trial AD followed by four years as a Senior AD handling the more complex prosecutions and presenting appeals, David worked latterly as Depute Head of the newly formed National Sexual Crimes Unit. As part of a dedicated team of specialists, David was involved in directing criminal investigations from the earliest stages and providing advice and expertise to Procurators Fiscal.

David said “My time in Crown Office has provided fantastic experience in dealing with pleas, trials and appeals in all manner of cases, as well as exposure to the prosecution process from start to finish. I’m looking forward to using the skills and insight that I have gained as I resume practice at the defence bar.”

Black Chambers clerk, Lee-Anne Black added ‘We’re delighted to welcome David to the Chambers. He was an extremely well respected member of the Crown Office team and the experience he gained there will prove invaluable. David has proven himself in the most challenging and sensitive of cases and will be a great addition to our unrivalled team of criminal defence QCs”.
