Matt Jackson QC appointed to Scottish Sentencing Council

Congratulations to Matt Jackson QC of Black Chambers, following his appointment to the Scottish Sentencing Council. Matt joins Sheriff Principal Craig Turnbull as the other new member of the Council, and replaces Stephen O’Rourke who sat as the previous advocate representative. Lady Dorrian paid tribute to both appointees, expressing her confidence that “…they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience which will be invaluable…”.

Matt shared his own thoughts: “I was really pleased to receive news of this appointment. Sentencing is such an important element of the criminal justice process and it’s a huge privilege to be part of the Council as it works towards changing the way we do things in Scotland.”
