Liam called to the Bar in 2026, following more than eleven years’ practice as a criminal defence solicitor with a leading Edinburgh firm, where he progressed from trainee solicitor to Partner.

As a solicitor, Liam gained extensive experience in criminal litigation at both summary and solemn level, appearing daily in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland in a wide range of criminal matters. His practice involved all aspects of criminal procedure including jury trials, evidential hearings, debates, appeals, bail applications and procedural hearings.

He has conducted a substantial number of trials involving complex evidential issues and serious allegations, including sexual offences and cases involving vulnerable witnesses and children.

Liam has developed a strong reputation for his meticulous preparation, strategic insight and sound judgement in demanding criminal cases. He is known for his confident courtroom manner and pragmatic approach to litigation.

In addition to his criminal expertise, Liam also has experience in childrens’ referral proceedings and has conducted a number of family law proofs.
Alongside practice, Liam was a tutor on the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh in both Criminal Court Practice and Criminal Advocacy for 6 years.

Liam accepts instructions in all areas of criminal law and childrens’ referral proceedings.
