Megan Davidson

Megan completed both her LLB and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow. Throughout her traineeship and after qualifying as a solicitor, Megan worked within two busy firms focussing on court work and regularly appeared in court representing clients in both criminal and civil cases. She took a keen interest in children’s hearings and referrals, representing both parents and children at all stages of such proceedings including representing a child client in the Supreme Court case of ABC and XY.

Since calling to the Bar in 2022 she has developed a busy practice and is regularly instructed in criminal cases across all levels: from summary cases in the Sheriff Court to High Court appeals. Megan also has considerable experience of appearing alongside senior counsel in complex and high-profile trials involving voluminous disclosure and requiring significant preparation. Her attention to detail and down to earth manner are well received by agents and clients alike.

HMA v Smith [2023] – Sheriff Court (Solemn) acquittal after successful no case to answer submission upheld in relation to charges of lewd & libidinous practices and sexual offences.

HMA v Andrew Innes [2023] – Junior Counsel in a high profile, double murder and sexual offences trial.

HMA v Christopher Harrisson [2023] – Junior Counsel in a cold-case, murder trial which was subsequently televised. This was a complex case with a significant amount of disclosure.

HMA v Mark Campbell [2023] – Junior Counsel in a lengthy, multi-complainer trial concerning charges of murder, rape and domestic abuse.

ABC (Appellant) v Principal Reporter and another (Respondents) (Scotland) – In the matter of XY (Appellant) (Scotland) – instructing solicitor representing the child sibling of the appellant XY in the UK Supreme Court appeal concerning the rights of deemed relevant persons. More details >
